Biography:
Michael W. Hudson is an Associate Professor of Music Education (instrumental) and serves as chair of the music education and music therapy division at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Hudson teaches undergraduate courses in secondary instrumental music pedagogy, instrumental ensemble conducting, and oversees the music education student teacher program. Additional teaching responsibilities include graduate seminars in the psychology of music, research methods in music education, and serving as chair and member of committees for thesis and dissertations in music education and music therapy. Dr. Hudson is a frequent presenter of research at state, regional, national, and international conferences. His research manuscripts have been published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, the Journal of Historical Research in Music Education, the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, and the Missouri Journal of Research in Music Education. Dr. Hudson serves as an editorial member of the Journal Research and Issues in Music Education and is an advisory board member for the Journal of Music Education. He currently serves as the state chair for research for the Kentucky Music Educators Association. Dr. Hudson is a frequent collaborating conductor with the UK Symphony Band and is in demand as a conductor/clinician for honor bands around the nation.
